Terms of use

What this software is

0xClearinghouse is open-source, non-custodial software released under the MIT licence. It helps software record what it owes other software and settle those balances in USDC on an EVM Layer 2. It is a library you run, not a service we run on your behalf.

We never hold your funds

Payments move from the payer's wallet directly to the payee's wallet. The protocol has no ability to hold, freeze, redirect, or recover funds, and no ability to reverse a settlement. Your keys are yours; if you lose them, no one can help you.

Fees

Settlement configures a protocol fee (default 50 bps, 0.5%) that is transferred to a treasury address in the same transaction as the payment. The fee is part of the configuration, is visible on-chain, and can be set to zero when you self-host. We do not charge for logging usage, and there is no subscription. The treasury for the official deployment is 0x1b2272A2Ca1792e8497A8d45Fd3eb8665AE88fAE; self-hosting points it wherever you like.

No warranty, no liability

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. It is pre-alpha: it has not been audited and it may contain defects that cause you to lose funds. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors are not liable for any loss arising from its use.

Do not run it with money you cannot afford to lose, and do not run unattended settlement until the crash-safety work described in docs/SETTLEMENT.md is complete.

Testnets and mainnets

Testnet deployments use valueless tokens and are provided for evaluation. Mainnet deployments move real value at your own direction. You are responsible for compliance with the laws that apply to you.

Changes

These terms may change as the software changes. The current version is always this page, and the repository history is public.

Not advice

Nothing here is financial, legal, or tax advice. This page is a summary of how the software behaves, not a contract with a custodian — there is no custodian.
